J is for Jacaranda

The letter for Mrs. Nesbitt's ABC Wednesday Round 3
and ABC Wednesday Anthology is
J.

During the various years that I lived in Brazil, usually for months (but once for two years) I thought of the gloriously blooming Jacaranda trees that abounded there as being purely tropical. I haven't been back to Brazil for more than thirty years, and in that time, Jacaranda has appeared in Berkeley, California, one tree at a time. These two are in front yards a block south of my house.

Here the lacy branches of blue-blossomed Jacaranda permit the pale pinkish-purple Bougainvillea beyond them to be seen.

I think the Jacaranda tree is very beautiful in bloom and no wonder it stays in your thoughts.

An assisted transplant - you weren't the only one to like the look of the flowers. Not surprising if your pistures are any measure. Good choice.

A lovely tree - a pity we northerners can't see it, so thank you for sharing!

PS The link from the Anthology page does not seem to be working.

So that's how a Jacaranda looks like! It is so beautiful! When I read "The Jacaranda Tree"by H.E.Bates, I wondered all the time , how this tree looked like.

This is the second great Jacaranda post that I've come across today... It's new to me...

And living in Berkeley, you must be familiar with the U.C. Berkeley Botanical Gardens -- it's really a great place, isn't it?

Lovely trees and memories. I'm wondering if the blossoms are fragrant?
So much fun to visit you, Phyllis!

Dianne told me this morning that you reminded her of the Jacaranda, and that she had forgotten it was her mother's favorite tree.

O what stunning flowers!

I grew up with a dark purple flowered jacanranda in my Sydney, NSW backyeard. Then, when I went to Sydney University, there was a beautiful old, elegant jacxaranda gracing the main quad.
