D is for Dandelions!

Mrs. Nesbitt's ABC Wednesday has reached "D" in its ninth round. Please click on the link to see what other participants have chosen as their favorite "D"s.  And to see, also, what a wonderful tradition Denise Nesbitt started for our enjoyment.

These grow in my own
 yard next to the walk

Dandelions are more lush here than in any other place that I have ever visited with almost every lawn, mown or still unmown, studded with gold. When Port townsend was a place to visit rather than my home, I preferred to come at dandelion time. And, since I have lived here I have met many other residents who feel the same about dandelions as I do - glorious, golden gifts, first harbingers of spring!

I like your attitude. Dandelions as the first harbingers of Spring and not just weeds.
Terrific photos of the golden puffs.

An ode to an under-appreciated ...flower? weed? herb?

My rabbits love the flowers, especially. So I now view dandelions with more tolerance than I used to.

I always love their first flush when they line the lanes. My mother (who was a gardener) always used to call them "the great survivors", whatever you do they always come back.

Very nice, and the pictures looked so nice with your banner and color scheme of your blog. Love the picture of you too. Adorable!

I, too, am fond of dandelions. It's always been hard for me to differentiate weeds and flowers! I remember an older post of yours which mentioned Galaxy, your first national publication, and was duly impressed with it but haven't read any distopian since. :)

Love these little gems so much. They portend of so many things to come, like 'do you like butter' when placed under a little one's chin to s.p.r.i.n.g!
Cheers, dear Phyllis. Hope all's well in your new digs.

I was always told as a child that if I picked dandelions I'd wet the bed so I've never picked one since!
