O is for Ocean

We of Mrs. Nesbitt's Abc Wednesday Round 5 have just crested the middle of the alphabet and now can coast down to Z. Use the links to other participating blogs. Thank you, Denise!

Shh! Don't tell anyone, but this is a preview of the cover of my 2010 calendar that I am still working on. A calendar with important dates (such as birthdays) has been Otto's and my (now my) traditional Christmas gift for family and a few friends. Click on it to read my double haiku on the left-hand side.

And here is another Ocean, great-grandson, at Christmas last year. He is the fifth in the unbroken line of Otto Smiths. His full name is Otto Ocean Anthony Smith, but, like his father, Otto Joseph (Joe) Mason Smith, his second name is the one by which he is known. And isn't Ocean a lovely name for a little boy, who, like his parents, spends much time on the water?

This is a very beautiful calendar! Your grandson deserves the name of Ocean, for he shows an ocean of happiness! Thanks for sharing. You're right the link to Mrs. Nesbitt's meme has gone and isn't working for some reason. I saw yesterday some participants who had entered their names in the ABC meme, but now I see none.

What a beautiful cover for your calendar, - your double haiku is very touching.

I too have a three year old Great Grandson, but not with such a very impressive name. He looks like a dear little boy.

Little Ocean is beautiful - and yes, what a lovely name!

Your haiku is perfect, and I do think you're brave to continue this tradition. I'm sure your family will appreciate the calendar so much, especially since it is made with love and dedication to Otto's memory.

Hugs to you.

How very wonderful! The ocean image is great, the haiku touching, the grandson - priceless!
I like those kind of middle names. My husband had a sailplane that was JS designation which is called out as Juliet Sierra - if we had a daughter, I would have named her that. (PS - what a terrific holiday gift.)

Ocean is such a beautiful name, and he's a lovely-looking boy.
Your calendar looks great. I love the picture of the water, and your haiku is perfect. It says so much in so few words, which is exactly what a haiku should do.
I like owls too, but I agree - the dragons hold my heart!
