H is for Houses on a Hill

Mrs. Nesbitt's ABC Wednesday Round 4 has reached the letter H. To link to other participating blogs click on above link or on banner.

My hill, that is. The houses shown below are located a few houses down the street from me, photographed one day when I was out with my digital camera aiming it at everything in sight. I have not been able to do that for a while, hence my reliance on my archives. The fact is that I have been housebound for health reasons.

I'm happy I don't have to climb these stairs
which are on the other, or high, side of the street!

Be sure to enlarge these pics.

Here's one you must be sure to enlarge!

I photographed it from a neighbor's driveway on the lower side of the street. Look at the lower left edge of the picture to see the rooftop of a house far down the hill, partially obscured by what, at first glance, seems to a blur, but which is actually a cluster of bare-branched trees not yet leafed out for spring.

I also live on the lower side of the street and need only descend fourteen steps from the sidewalk to arrive at my front door and the main floor of the house. The hillside still continues sharply downward so that there is another lower floor at the back, as well as a floor above the main floor.

I apologize to all my good friends on ABC Wednesday and Sunday Scribblings for getting around to so few comments.

I sincerely hope that the owners of that house never will have to rely on a wheelchair. One has to keep such things in mind when building/buying houses.

I just stopped what I was doing and prayed for you. I hope you feel better soon! I love your H. I love your neighbors houses on the hill! I can't imagine climbing all those steps. I am sure your view is lovely! It always makes my week brighter to come and visit! You are a blessing. H is for HUG and I am sending you one right this second! : ).

I live in a hollow - quite the opposite of a hill :) A great choice for the letter H. I am sorry to hear that you have been unwell and do hope that you are soon feeling brighter.

I'm with you about not wanting to have to climb those stairs. Maybe to visit but not to live there. ;-)

I live in a very hilly town...I know all about hills. These are beautiful pictures.

I like the idea of it but not the reality. Too many stairs, but beautiful as an image.

Beautiful house, but not for me with my knees!!! Love the tree! Great photos regardless of when they were taken and I do hope you're feeling better!

I'm so sorry you have been housebound by health problems. I hope this will pass quickly. That seems to be a very steep street.
One reason we moved was to get into a single story home with no stairs. Its the best decision we ever made. Now I go aout in my yard and now I love to walk around the neighborhood.
Feel better soon.

Wonderful neighbourhood! Hilly but green. Good work out, but indeed one would need to be healthy to live there.

Goodness me, those houses are on a hill, aren't they? It reminds me of the Isle of Wight!

Sorry to hear you've been housebound.. good thing you're internet savvy, isn't it? You can see the world from your lounge!

Living in a stunning place like that must keep you fit ;-) Or you must at least be fit to enjoy living there.

Hi!
Great "H" post! I can see not going out if I had to go up and down those stairs. My knees would never make it! Have a great day!!

I was sorry to read about your health keeping you inside. It is so frustrating to be house bound when all the world awaits outside. I have been in the same situation with my multiple sclerosis, but knock on wood, I can get out and about now.

You asked about the heron that was using bread to get fish on my ABC post. I would think that the larger bird which I think was a crane would try to grab an easy meal as that bird also fishes for its food. I found the notion of a bird actually using bread to catch fish just amazing. I don't think we give enough credit to animals for having some 'intelligence'.

houses on hills are fine until you are housebound and can't get out except that they at least can offer a view of other hills hopefully.

Thanks for the trip through your neighborhood. Living here in the upper Midwest I'd almost forgotten what hills look like!
Take good care, dear one.

Being housebound must be such a pain! Yet you must have wonderful views. I particularly like all the varied detail in the second shot.
