D is for Disc

Mrs. Nesbitt's ABC Wednesday round 4
has progressed to D.

At Christmas time we were at son Otto's home in Port Townsend, Washington, where he is (among other things) a software developer. This means that there are plenty of obsolete computer discs, which Kristin had hung in the windows as added shine and color. They turned in the slightest breeze, sending rainbows of color swirling around their centers. They were magical in daylight, as above...

...and at night they took on a mysterious depth and brilliance from the lights of the room and the Christmas tree (all white lights).

That is a very clever idea.I always thought they would be good for something artistic.

They do catch the light brilliantly. Very original choice for the letter D.

I have used them as window strike deterrents as the birds see them and don't crash into the window..Good choice for the letter D..Michelle

I love old computer disks. I made a mobile for a small child and it still hangs on the ceiling and casts delightful lights around the room. They are fascinating... Nice post!

What a great idea to recycle those obsolete discs. I am going to try that one of these days.

That's a wonderful use for them. I used to receive two or three each month from an online service. I hated to pitch them in the garbage (don't decompose, I expect), and so have a stack of them. I think I shall make a mobile for my back yard. Thanks. Nice "D"
